Lix Digital markets repair workshops across the UK — independent garages, MOT centres, bodyshops, fast-fit sites and specialist diagnostics outfits — from search visibility through to the booking that lands in your diary. This page sets out what we do for a workshop, how we run it and what drives the price. If the mechanics are what you want first, our full guide for garage owners covers those in depth.

What we do for a repair workshop

Before we build anything, a workshop gets four questions asked of it. Can drivers find you when they need the jobs you actually want more of? Does what they land on make booking effortless? Is anything you already pay for producing work? And what can one booked job afford to cost you? The answers decide which of the services below we run, and in what order. We would rather run one of them properly than sell you all four.

Four services Lix Digital runs for a repair workshop: search, Google Ads judged on booked jobs, a booking website and social

Auto repair SEO services

Search is where most workshop enquiries begin, and it is the one channel that keeps paying after you stop feeding it. Our auto repair SEO services put your workshop in front of drivers at the moment their car needs something doing — and, just as importantly, in front of the ones searching for the jobs that carry margin, not only the ones that fill a bay for an hour.

In practice that means a page for each job you want more of. Someone typing a cambelt interval is not the same person as someone looking for an MOT, and one catch-all services page trying to serve both serves neither. We build out the work you want — servicing, diagnostics, clutches, cambelts, DPF, air-conditioning, brakes, tyres, EV and hybrid — with the areas you cover stated plainly, so drivers and search engines can both tell what you do and where you do it.

Underneath that sits the unglamorous half: a site that loads quickly on a poor signal, pages that can be crawled and indexed cleanly, and the trust signals a wary driver looks for before ringing — real photographs of your bays and your team, your reviews, and the accreditations you genuinely hold. We work white-hat and report clearly on what has been done and what it produced. Our SEO services page explains the approach in general terms.

Paid search buys visibility this week rather than this quarter, which makes it genuinely useful to a workshop that has just opened, has a quiet fortnight coming, or wants a seasonal service moving — air-conditioning in spring, batteries and tyres as the weather turns.

Run badly it is also the fastest way to waste money in this trade. Broad keywords soak up the budget, missing negative keywords mean you pay for people researching how to do the job themselves and for job seekers, and campaigns built once and never touched drift. We build tightly around the services you want, targeted to the ground you genuinely cover, with call tracking in place from day one so the report shows calls and booking requests rather than clicks.

We also say no. If the margin on a job cannot carry the cost of the clicks it takes to win it, you will hear that before you spend rather than after. Our PPC management page covers how we run accounts.

A website that takes the booking

Everything else sends drivers to one place. A workshop website has a narrow job: load fast on a phone, keep the number tappable on every page, let someone request a booking or a quote in a couple of taps, and say plainly which jobs you take on and which areas you cover.

We build websites and WordPress sites in-house, so the site and the search work are done by one team rather than handed between suppliers who blame each other when the phone stays quiet. If your current site is sound we will improve it rather than sell you a rebuild — that call is made in the consultation, and we show you the reasoning. Our web development page covers how we build.

Social, where it earns its place

For a workshop, social media is proof rather than promotion — a clean before-and-after, a short clip of a job that went well, an honest word about what a warning light actually means. It keeps you familiar to drivers who will need you eventually and reassures the ones deciding now. We take it on where it fits, usually one platform run consistently rather than four run occasionally; our social media management page sets out what that involves. It is rarely the first thing we would have you spend on.

How we work, from first consultation to monthly report

The sequence is the same for every workshop, and you can see where you are in it at any point.

Lix Digital's four-step process for a workshop: consultation, foundation tracking, build, then weekly checks and a monthly report
  1. The consultation. We go through your website, your search visibility and any ad account you are already running, then give you a straight view of which single change would make the biggest difference first. It is free, and having it commits you to nothing.
  2. The foundation. Tracking goes in before spend does — calls from the site, booking and quote requests, and which channel produced each one. We will not push traffic at a site that cannot take a booking, so if the site is the constraint, the site is fixed first.
  3. The build. Service pages, campaigns or a new site, whichever the plan calls for, scoped in writing with the price agreed before work starts.
  4. The running of it. Accounts and rankings checked weekly, and a report every month in plain English: enquiries, calls, booking requests, where each came from and what each one cost. You will not be sent a slide of impressions.

The number that matters is cost per enquiry, and its honesty depends entirely on the tracking being right, which is why the tracking goes in first. Once you can see which channel produced which booking, every later decision gets cheaper — you back what works and stop what does not, instead of arguing about it.

One thing most agencies will not raise: a workshop has a fixed number of bays. Marketing that produces more enquiries than you can absorb does not make you money, it makes you a business that stops answering the phone. We pace to your capacity, and if the real constraint turns out to be the ramp rather than the diary, we will say so rather than quietly sell you more.

The workshops we work with

Automotive is not one audience, and treating it as one is why generic agency work underperforms in this trade. A bodyshop enquiry arrives as a photograph and an insurance question. An MOT centre’s arrives as a date. Those need different pages, different ads and different follow-up.

The seven types of UK repair workshop Lix Digital works with: independent garages, MOT centres, bodyshops, fast-fit and tyre specialists, diagnostics and remap specialists, EV and hybrid workshops, and mobile mechanics
  • Independent service and repair garages — the broadest mix of work, where the win is usually competing for the higher-value jobs as well as the routine ones.
  • MOT centres — the one trade with a diary that legally renews itself. The task is as much about being the workshop a driver comes back to next year as about winning them this year.
  • Bodyshops — split between insurer work and private customers, who behave completely differently online. Private estimate requests live or die on how easy you make it to send photographs.
  • Fast-fit and tyre specialists — price-visible, immediate and stock-led, where being findable at the moment of the puncture is most of the battle.
  • Diagnostics, remap and marque specialists — the searcher already knows the exact term and will travel for the right workshop, so the sensible reach is regional rather than a few miles.
  • EV and hybrid workshops — early demand, thinner competition for the terms, and a real advantage to whoever gets their pages up first.
  • Mobile mechanics — no premises to be found at, so the website and the search presence do all the work a shopfront would.

We work with all of these across the UK. Lix Digital is an online agency, so the work is delivered remotely wherever your workshop is — the shape of your trade matters to us far more than your postcode. The wider motor trade, including dealers and parts sellers, sits on our automotive industry page.

Why workshop owners choose Lix Digital

Every agency ranking for this search will tell you it knows automotive. Three things are actually different here.

01
We are in the trade ourselves

We do not learn your world from a briefing document. ECU Repairs, Turbo Repairs and Bodyteq are in-house brands of our own — we carry their diaries, their quiet weeks and their enquiry forms, and when those phones do not ring it is our problem rather than a client’s. Twenty-two years in the automotive trade sits behind that: our founder’s, spent in the trade rather than in meetings about it.

It changes the work in small, practical ways. We know which jobs are worth advertising for and which quietly lose money. We know what a driver is nervous about before they ring a workshop they have never used. And we have already found out which reminder wording gets acted on, because we send our own.

02
A full agency behind the vertical

Lix Digital is a generalist UK digital agency — SEO, PPC management, web and WordPress development and social media management — and repair workshops are one of the industries we have built out properly, not the whole of what we do. You can see the others on our industries page.

The breadth matters to you because a workshop’s problem is rarely confined to one channel. If enquiries are down, the cause might be the site, the tracking, the campaign structure or the search visibility — and an agency that only sells one of those tends to find the cause in the one it sells.

03
National, and priced to compete

We are an online agency with a registered UK address, UK-based servers and a UK-based support team. There is no showroom to visit and no travel to pay for, and that is part of why our pricing undercuts what most workshops are quoted.

We are deliberately price-competitive and we quote in the open: you get the number in writing, and what it buys, before anything starts. Active SEO clients also get their hosting free on our UK servers for as long as they are with us, which takes a running cost off the business rather than adding one.

What it costs, and how we quote

Nobody can quote a workshop honestly without looking at it, and an agency that gives you a monthly figure before seeing your site is selling a package rather than solving your problem. What we can do is be straight about what moves the number.

Three things move it: how many services you want to compete for, how much ground you cover, and the state of what you already have. A single-site garage sharpening up an existing website is a different job from a three-branch operation that needs a new site and campaigns across a region.

Where ads are involved there are two costs, and they are not the same thing. One is what you pay Google for the clicks; the other is what you pay us to run the account. Across the UK market, agencies working with independent workshops generally put the starting point for ad spend at a few hundred pounds a month, because much below that a campaign never gathers enough data to be optimised rather than guessed at. Search and website work carry a fee but no media spend, which is one reason we often start there.

Our posture on price is simple. We are competing hard for this work and we price accordingly — cheaper than most agencies quoting for the same scope — and we would rather prove the one or two things that move first than sell you a bundle you cannot measure.

Questions workshop owners ask us

Do you work with workshops outside your own area?
We work nationally. Lix Digital is an online agency with a registered UK address rather than a network of offices, so the work is delivered remotely wherever your workshop is. You get the same team whether you are in Cornwall or Cumbria, and you are not paying for anyone’s travel time.
Would you take on a competing garage in my area?
No. If we are already working with a workshop chasing the same searches in your area, we will not take on a second one — and we will tell you that at the consultation rather than let you find out later. Two workshops competing for one set of searches cannot both be served properly, and taking both on would mean competing against ourselves.
How quickly will I see enquiries?
Paid search can produce calls within days of a campaign going live, though judging it properly takes a couple of months of data. Search visibility is slower: some movement within a few months, a fuller picture over six to twelve, depending on how competitive your area is and the state of the site when we start. Anyone promising rankings in a fortnight is selling you something.
Can you work with the website I already have?
Usually, yes. If your site is quick enough, works properly on a phone and can take a booking, improving it is cheaper and faster than replacing it, and that is what we will recommend. We propose a rebuild only where the existing site is the thing holding enquiries back — and we will show you exactly what is doing it.
Do you handle MOT centres and bodyshops as well as service garages?
Yes, and we treat them as different businesses rather than one category. An MOT centre’s advantage is a diary that renews every year; a bodyshop’s is a private-customer estimate route that most bodyshops make far harder than it needs to be. The pages, the campaigns and the follow-up all differ accordingly.
Who owns the website and the ad account?
You do. Campaigns are built in your own Google Ads account wherever possible, and the website is yours. That matters more than it sounds — whoever holds the account holds the history, and you should never be in a position where changing supplier means starting from zero.
What do you actually need from me?
Less than you fear, and more than nothing. We need access to your website and any advertising or analytics accounts, half an hour at the start to understand which jobs you want more of and what your bays can take, and a quick answer when we ask whether a particular service is worth pushing. The rest is ours.
A workshop rarely lacks ideas about marketing. What it lacks is anyone whose job it is to act on them once the bays fill up, which is precisely when the work needs doing. That is the job we take on. And if the honest answer for your workshop turns out to be one fix rather than a campaign, that is the answer you will get - we would rather give it than win a retainer we cannot justify.

Tell us about your workshop — the jobs you want more of, the ones you have too many of, and what your bays can genuinely take — and we will come back with a straight view of what is worth doing first and what it will cost. Book a free consultation.
